We are blessed with incredibly good technology at Taylor, thanks to partners who recently gave Taylor more than a million dollars just for film, video and television equipment.

The Rupp Communication Arts building includes . . .

  • Five Final Cut Pro HD edit suites
  • Sony cameras including F3s, 350s and EX3s for field and studio use
  • Steadicam Phantom & Steadicam Pilot
  • DSLR cameras for still and motion photography
  • Macintosh computer lab with 20 workstations
  • Three audio production bays and sound booth
  • HD Television studio and control room with seven camera capability
  • Broadcast radio station, WTUR-FM 89.7, reaching 25 miles
  • Two equipment checkout rooms with extensive HD field shooting gear
  • Extensive field lighting and grip equipment by Arri, Chimera, Lowel, FilmGear and others
  • 18ft Cam Mate Jib with 360 degree rotatable head
  • Field dollies and field jib for motion camera support
  • Classrooms including one with HD projection and 7.1 surround sound
  • Offices for the student newspaper, yearbook, radio station and cable channel
  • Faculty offices and engineering office
  • Cable TV head-end/engineering room

*In 2010, Taylor invested significantly in new technology. Our introductory students shoot with the same camera that some graduate students use at the University of Southern California, the number-one-ranked film school in the nation. We are blessed to be able to offer state of the art technology to enable students' creative storytelling.
